More about the Joplin Hamfest Each year, the Joplin Amateur Radio Club sponsors this Hamfest which has become one of the premier events in the midwest. Started in 1990, it will be been held at the Jack Lawton Webb Convention Center located on South Range Line, in Joplin, Missouri. Situated less than 200 miles from several major cities in four states, including Little Rock, Ft. Smith, Fayetteville, Wichita, Topeka, St. Joseph, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Kansas City and Springfield, this hamfest has become popular with amateurs and vendors across the Middle West. It features over 180 tables in a 16,800 sq/ft air-conditioned facility, spacious parking with easy access, wide aisles, testing, great food, and prizes. Drawings for door prizes are made throughout the event. All door prizes drawn can be claimed up to the end of the hamfest Saturday. Drawing tickets must be presented to win all prizes! If you leave, give your tickets to a trusted friend to claim your prizes for you. Only the grand prize drawings will be repeated until someone claims them. Commercial vendors are encouraged to reserve their table space early with payment to insure they are guaranteed space. Pre-registration payment offers the advantage of getting your business listed in the flyer and on the website. Commercial vendors pay $40.00 per table regardless of length. The list of vendors shown on the website includes links when provided. These vendors have come from all over the Middle West to participate and support our event. We encourage our attendees to patronize them. HAMS are also encouraged to bring their families and spend the weekend discovering the rich history of the Ozark area playground located all around our town! Information and maps are available at the Hamfest about several area attractions and area events. Some of the attractions include the Wildcat Glades Conservation & Audubon Center, the Spiva Art Museum, Richardson's Chocolate Factory, SandStone Gardens , and the Joplin Museum Complex - where you can discover the colorful lead and zinc mining history of this area. The new Downstream Casino Resort located just minutes away. For information about other things to do in the Joplin area, visit the Joplin Convention Visitors Bureau . Here you can obtain literature and discover more about Joplin and the surrounding area in the foothills of the Ozarks. Plan to bring the family and have some fun! Check this website often, as we update hamfest information regularly in more detail as the event approaches. |
